The Restaurant

Langdon's Restaurant and Wine Bar is located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, just across the Cooper River from the historic city of Charleston. Charleston has been known as a city of historical significance and of culinary artistry for more than a century. Southern classics like shrimp and grits and she-crab soup adorn nearly every menu in the city. “Lowcountry cooking,” as it has been called, is a blend of Southern, French, Gullah, and Creole styles of cooking. Chef and owner Patrick Langdon Owens has taken Lowcountry cooking to a different level. Crispy local grouper served atop brie grits with applewood smoked bacon chardonnay basil cream or pepper crusted tuna over baby greens with avocado relish and wasabi-topped with fried leeks are just two of the many wonderful selections that are featured at Langdon's Restaurant and Wine Bar.

Langdon's also features a distinct and ever-changing wine list with over eighty selections by the bottle and more than twenty by the glass. Langdon’s wine list will surely meet the most discerning palate. The wine list at Langdon’s was created with food in mind, and before any new wine is added to the list it is sampled and paired with many different menu items. There are true classic food and wine pairings, such as champagne and oysters or beef tenderloin with a California cabernet. However the intent at Langdon’s is to create a wine list that is comprehensive, affordable, and most of all fun and enjoyable. The wine list features wines from nearly every region of the world: Shiraz from Australia, Cabernets from California, and even a Pinot Noir from Germany. There are also classics on the wine list: the Chateauneuf-de-Pape from Chateau de Beaucastle, and a Barbaresco from Italy are just two of the many from which to choose.

Chef Owens also enjoys experimenting with different types of foods and ingredients from all over the world: Escolar and Opakapaka from Hawaii, Sea bass from Japan and Blue Prawns from Alaska are just a sampling of Chef Owens’ creativity and innovation. If one were to ask some of the restaurant’s regular guests they would surely mention the seared lamb chops with roasted fingerling potatoes, apples, jalapeños and mint gastrique as well as the Chipotle-seared Ahi tuna with a charred Serrano vinaigrette over baby greens. Chef Owens recommends the Marques De Caseres Rioja Reserve with the tuna, and the lamb would pair perfectly with Fairview "Solitude" Shiraz from South Africa. One of the most important things about wine and food pairings is to drink and eat what you enjoy. If you enjoy a full-bodied California cabernet with rare tuna, then go for it! We want people to enjoy our great food and wine and feel like they are truly being pampered with southern hospitality.

Since its opening in 2003, the restaurant has had glowing reviews from the Post and Courier and the Charleston City Paper, and it has become the only Mt. Pleasant restaurant to receive the AAA Four-Diamond Award. For an exceptional dining experience, we invite you to visit us.
